Hello Dancers and Parents,

Welcome to term 3! We are very excited to be back in the studio and looking forward to the second half of this year.

GPAC has confirmed that they have officially finished their renovations and we will have access to the full theatre seating this year. This enables us to finally go back to having just one GPAC show. We know that lots of you have waited for this day and we want to thank you for your patience during the last few years while our outstanding show venue went through an upgrade.

Important Dates

As our long standing Impetus Families know, we are very passionate about our end of year production. It provides such a great motivation for our students and the improvement we see in class especially in the second half of the year is always astounding. The full theatre experience is so much fun for our students: who doesn't like dressing up, having professional photos taken and spending a whole Sunday with dance friends rehearsing and then finally being part of a professional production in a real theatre in front of family and friends!? We are thrilled that your child and you are part of this exciting journey with us.

In order for you or your child to get the most out of it, we ask you kindly to please enter below dates in your family diary now.

Hello Dancers and Parents,

A big thank you to our dancers who came along to our holiday Acro & Hello Muscles classes - we had so much fun and loved watching you pick up new skills.

We are now getting ready for the rest of the year including our super exciting mid year shows!!!! Please make sure you read our emails, enter relevant dates in your diaries/ calendars and let us know asap if you have any questions.

New Impetus Gear in the studio

Our next round of Hoodiess have arrived, so make sure you grab yours if you placed an order last term. We also have new tops available in the studio shop now. They always sell fast, so check it out if you want to add a pop of colour to your dance outfit.

On this note: as we are getting closer to our mid year performance, we will soon be trying on costumes. Please ensure that you or your dancer wear(s) black bikeshorts/leggings and crop top or singlet to every class, so we can easily try on costumes over the top. Thank you!!!

New Class: Go!Dancilates

We are thrilled to introduce a brand new class to the Impetus Repertoire!

Go!Dancilates combines Barre, Pilates and Contemporary Dance. Say hello to your muscles with strength and conditioning, then incorporate it into dance. This class is sure to help improve your core, strength, alignment and dance technique... all whilst having fun moving to great tunes!!! Go!Dancilates will run Tuesday nights, 7-8pm.

This adult dance class does not require any prior dance experience, all we ask is that you please bring your own yoga mat. You can head over to the parent portal now to book your spot! If you have any questions or need help finding the class online, please just respond to this email.

Dates for your Calendar

As always our classes* will prepare a mid year cabaret style performance towards the end of term 2, followed by an end of year show at the end of term 4. This year, we will be organising separate shows for our Mini and Kids dancers, so please take note of the relevant dates for your child/child or yourself and pop them in your diary now. Our dancers love showing off what they have learned and performing in front of an audience is such an amazing experience - we promise you, you will love it too!

Easter Holidays!

Hello Dancers and Parents,

Thank you to all of you who came along for parent viewing in last two weeks. We hope you loved it as much as we did. Our dancers were so proud to show you their new moves - and weren't they amazing?!

Holiday Classes

We still have spots available in our Acro Holiday classes which will start this Tuesday.

All children's classes will go for 2 weeks to cover both weeks of the holidays and you are able to enrol in just one week if that suits better.

Kids (Year Prep- Yr 1)
9.30 - 10.30am
$30 for both weeks

Junior (Year 2-5)
10.30am - 12pm
$40 for both weeks

Inters (Year 6-9)
12.30 - 2pm
$40 for both weeks

For adult dancers, we are offering a three week "Hello Muscles" class with our wonderful Stacey! This class is based on Barre and Pilates and will help you discover muscles you didn't even know you had - all in a fun and friendly environment that you know. No prior experience is necessary! Hello Muscles will run for three Tuesdays, 7-8pm starting this Tuesday as well and cost $45 for three weeks.

Holiday Classes

We are excited to offer fun holiday classes during this Easter break. Lots of you have asked for Acro, so we have created a super fun class called: Acro, Stretch and Tumbling. Acro classes will run both Tuesdays in the holidays and we have separate classes for Kids, Juniors and Inters.

For adult dancers, we are offering a three week "Hello Muscles" class with our wonderful Stacey! This class is based on Barre and Pilates and will help you discover muscles you didn't even know you had - all in a fun and friendly environment that you know. No prior experience is necessary!

You can head over to the parent portal now to book your spot! If you have any questions or need help finding the classes online, please respond to this email.

Enrollments

With term 1 coming to an end, please note that enrollment carries through the year, so if you are currently enrolled, you will automatically stay enrolled in the class for the rest of the year unless you tell us otherwise. So if you or your child are going to continue dancing with us, there is nothing you have to do.

We have very limited spots open for new students in term 2: if your child has a friend who is interested in dancing, please get the parents to contact us asap, so we can organise a trial class.

If you are enrolled in Autopay, the first payment for term 2 will come out on 17 April, the week before term goes back.

Our performances are much loved by dancers and audiences alike. We are thrilled to confirm our show dates for 2019. Please enter below dates in your calendar and keep it free. Hello Dancers and Parents,

It's wonderful to have settled into this term. Our classes are growing together as teams and we are witnessing great progress on all levels. It is still fascinating to watch, even after more than 30 years. It makes me feel so happy!

Public Holiday | Monday, 11 March

Please note that the studio will be closed on Monday for Labour Day.

Thank you for full classes

We would like to sincerely thank all of our families for your continued support and for telling your friends about how much fun you have at Impetus. We love growing our dance family through word of mouth, because your friends are our friends. Please note that most of our classes are now at capacity which is fantastic, but it means that we need you to please check with us before coming along for a trial in another class or bringing along friends. Just shoot us a quick email, so we can make sure there is a spot in the class available.

Impetus Hoodies

You might have noticed that our first order of Impetus Hoodies has arrived. If you love them as much as we do and want to get one for term 2, please get your orders in here.

Class Music on the portal

Most teachers have uploaded their classes' music onto the portal for you to peruse for home practice. Glee lyrics are also available. If you cannot find your music on the parent portal, please respond to this email and we will help!

Food is energy

We have noticed a great difference in students who have a snack before class and those who come hungry from school. A healthy snack such as fruit or veggie sticks with hommus or a bliss ball, eaten during the car drive to the studio works wonders for concentration and ability in class. Please note that we have severe nut allergies in the studio, so if you bring a clean snack to have in the foyer prior to class, make sure it is 100% nut free.

Hello Dancers and Parents,

Welcome back to the final term of 2018. We have been busy preparing loads of bright and sparkly costumes and are gearing up for an amazing show term.

Limited Tickets left

If you haven't purchased your tickets yet, please head on over to the GPAC website to get them now. Tickets do sell out before the date and we would hate for you or your loved ones to miss out.

Show preparation

In order to help you stay informed on everything show related, we have added a 'dancers only' section on our website. We will update it regularly in the next few weeks to make sure you always have all relevant information at your finger tips.

Please follow this link or just head over to our website www.impetusdance.com.au and to the 'Dancers only' section. Your password for the site is 'happydance'.

An important note for our students who are performing at the end of year show: We will now be trying on costumes in almost every class, so please wear appropriate clothing to class:

Crop top or singlet
Bike Shorts or Leggings
Hair tied back neatly

Backstage Helpers

Thank you to everyone who has offered to help backstage. We really appreciate your assistance! Please note, if you are helping behind the scenes you will not be required to purchase a ticket.

GPAC staff will check off every person coming backstage and only people on the pre-approved list will be allowed in. If you are planning on helping us out behind the scenes, please let us know asap.

Make some time for YOU!

Due to the huge demand for our Adult Beginner classes we have added a third class for term 4. Maybe this is the sign that YOU should come along for a trial session? It is SO MUCH FUN and it feels so good to take an hour out of your busy week to do something for yourself. It gives you so much energy and might be just what you need!!!

We currently have trial spots available, so email us and book yourself in for this week. No experience necessary, just come along and try it out for free! We promise you won't regret it.

Hello Dancers and Parents,

Another wonderful week at the Impetus Headquarters - so many costumes are being fitted and are now ready to be used at our upcoming show. All classes are looking amazing - it is so rewarding to see teams come together and the choreographies that we have carefully thought out in our heads develop on the floor.

I cannot wait to see all our amazing dancers sparkle on stage!

Save the Date | Tuesday, 11 September

Tickets to our end of year show are scheduled to go online on Tuesday 11 September through the GPAC ticket system. As soon as they are live, we will send you a link through this newsletter for your convenience.

As lots of you experienced with our Mid Year Cabaret, our shows are very popular and tickets are likely to sell out. At GPAC we have no control over ticket sales and are unable to add extra seats. So please ensure you get your tickets early to avoid disappointment.

Last chance

If you are after a DVD of our Cabaret Show, please get it this week. In order to do our bit for the environment, we will print/ produce them to order and we will close off orders on Sunday, 9 September. Once again, a huge thank you to the amazing team behind VIDEOWORKS for recording our show and donating them for all funds to go towards our Studio 2 upgrade. Please head over to our website to get your copy.

Backstage Helpers

Can you help? We are looking for a few helping hands behind the scenes for both shows and at our rehearsals.

As a helper, you assist us in creating a calm, happy environment.
A current WWC check is also required by law. (Applying for a WWC is a straight forward process which can be completed at any post office. Please follow this link to get your form.)

If you can assist at any of the below days, please respond to this email, letting us know what date(s) you are available and what class you would like to assist. THANK YOU!

For classes other than Mini/Kindy Groove, please note that we need show helpers to also attend one rehearsal or have been around after class for trying on costumes, so that you know what is going on.

We will aim to confirm the roster before Tuesday when tickets open. Thank you, we appreciate you all so much! (PS: it is a lot of fun being behind the scenes)

Hello Dancers and Parents,

Thank you to everyone who attended our Sunday rehearsal - it was such a productive day and we had a lot of fun too! The end of year concert is definitely starting to take shape. How EXCITING!!!?!

Cabaret DVD

Thanks to the amazing team behind VIDEOWORKS (wow, just WOW!!!) we are able to bring you all the magic from our mid year show on DVD. Sales will be strictly limited, so get your order in this week if you want one. Please head over to our website to get your copy.

Did you know...

...that you can access your class music files from our parent portal? We know that lots of our dancers like to practise at home, so we upload each song for you to download at home. Simply log in to the parent portal, and click on the bottom left app "Shared Files". You can then click through the tabs to get to "Class Music" and voila!

Cabaret Costumes

A few of you still have bits and pieces of costume from our Cabaret Show at home. Some items always make it to students' houses in all the excitement of the day. Can you please bring those items in the next week, so we can add them back to our existing stock. Thank you!

Happiness Survey

Thank you to everyone who has taken our 3 minute survey to let us know how we are going. We are looking forward to your feedback!

Missing a class

As we are heading closer to our end of year show, attendance in class is more important than ever. Every session is jam packed with important moves and practice which will help every dancer feel more comfortable on stage. If you cannot dance due to an injury, we encourage you to still attend class as you will still be able to pick up lots of information and it will make it easier for you to catch up the week after.

If you have to miss class, please email Sarah at hello@impetusdance.com.au or enter your absence yourself in our parent portal, so that we don't wait for you and we know you are okay.

Newsletter 23 | Mid Term Housekeeping

Hello Dancers and Parents,

We are now well and truly in term 3. The excitement about our end of year show is definitely starting to show and it is amazing to see how far our dancers have come this year!

Our Foyer

We are very grateful to the St David's Parish for allowing us to provide our classes in such a lovely, spacious studio. We feel so lucky to offer our Dance Family a studio in such a convenient location with a welcoming foyer for families to wait for their dancers. Please help us maintain the space by ensuring we all treat it with respect and look after the toys and facilities provided with extra care. Thank you!

Sunday Rehearsal 19 August

Our Rehearsal will be at our usual home studio St.Davids Studios. If your class is not mentioned, you will not be required for next week's rehearsal. We careful arrange the whole day to ensure that we only call you in for the times we need you, so that no students will have to sit around and get bored. Please help us run the day smoothly by arriving on time.

Junior groove: 12-1.30

Tween groove: 12- 3

Mojo Krew: 1.00-3.00

Inter Contemporary: 3-4.30

Senior Contemporary: 3-4

Inters/ iGen/IDT Co: 4-6

Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate

As it gets colder, it can be easy to forget how much water our body needs to function properly. We get a great workout at dance class and it is vital that we replenish our bodies, so please remember to bring a named water bottle to class. We will give our students plenty of opportunities during class to take a sip.

On another note: please encourage your dancer to use the bathroom before class, so they can make the most of our class time.

Lost property

We have a lot of found property in the studio at the moment. Please check if any of it is yours, we would love to return all items to their loving homes.

Sticker Books

If you are the parent of a Junior Dancer, please make sure they bring their sticker books to class. We will have lots of important information for you as we prepare for our End of Year Show. If you have missplaced your sticker book, please respond to this email, so we can get you a new one.

Photos: last chance

1. If you haven't already done so - check out the proof books in the studio.
2. Note your unique photo code (combination of class name and number).
3. Hop onto our website and order your photos.

If you have any issues with your online order, please just get in touch by responding to this email and we'll get it sorted manually for you! Easy.

Costumes

We will be trying on costumes in class some weeks to make sure we are all set for our show, so please ensure you or your dancer wear(s) a black singlet/ tee or crop top with footless leggins and bike shorts to class. That way they can easily try on a costume over the top and don't need to get undressed. If you have any questions, please have a chat to Jean in the studio.

Staff Car Parks

Thank you for saving our staff car parks for our teachers. Some of them come straight from class elsewhere and need to know they have a secure spot to make it to their lesson on time. So a big thank you for helping out!

Cabaret DVDs
Thank you for your patience! We have had so many enquiries for our Cabaret DVD and I can confirm they are brilliant and we will sell them for a very limited time starting this weekend. We are confirming details, but they will be very reasonably priced - please keep your eyes peeled for an email with all details.
