Hello and thank you for stopping by! We love meeting new faces and are excited that you are checking out our FAQs.

Below are just a few of the questions that we get asked a lot - if there is something else you are wondering, please feel free to message us on facebook or contact us here!
What is the uniform at Impetus Dance Theatre?
Dress Code: Look like a dancer- feel like a dancer.
Our dancers wear bike shorts/ skins or leggings and a black cami/singlet for classes. Students are welcome to wear bright bows/hairties and a bright singlet over the top of their "uniform". We often have wonderful bright Impetus tanks, tees and hoodies for sale.

For our little dancers: Tutus are absolutely welcome, but pointy wings are a bit...pointy.

Leave your jewellery at home and save it flying off, breaking, getting caught in clothes or hair, bouncing up and chipping your teeth or getting lost.

We generally dance in bare feet at Impetus. We like to feel the floor and develop all those lovely foot muscles. Ballet shoes, jazz shoes and foot undeez are also good.

Please ensure your hair is tied back neatly.

Hip Hop dress code is a little different - please check with your teacher on what is appropriate.

Can parents watch during class?
Spectators are not allowed in class as it is super-distracting for the students but we invite you to watch the last 10 minutes of week 2 class/s for a sneak peek of our progress. At the end of term parents are also invited for a special viewing day. Prepare for proud parent moments! You are also welcome to wait quietly in the foyer during your child’s class.

Do parents have to sew costumes?
Short answer is: NO! However, we greatly appreciate some help from our amazing parents. Our costumes alone are a huge undertaking and do take a whole year of constant work from a few dedicated people. You don't need to have mad sewing skills. We need people to Fold, Count, Pack, Name, Cut, Pin, Tidy, Wash, Sort, Hang, Bling, Paint, Tie dye, Hand sew a couple of stitches or sequins, Transport, And endless other tasks. Also sets, props, foyer supervision - any help would be just great.

Does Impetus Dance Theatre prepare an end of show performance?
You betcha we do! Our end of year showcase at the amazing GPAC venue is legendary! If you haven't been to one of our colourful, professional shows yet, we highly recommend you put it on your calendar for next year. Have a look at some of these images from previous years. Our shows are professionally filmed and photographed to make memories for years to come.

As preparation for our end of year show we also perform in a smaller mid year Cabaret. All our stars get plenty of time to shine on stage!

Please note: Tiny Groovers & Go!Dance classes do not perform at either show.
