Our dedicated and talented teachers and support staff
SHERREE | Director and Founder of Impetus Dance Company My whole life has revolved around my crazy love for getting my groove on. I have danced, choreographed and performed widely across Geelong and Melbourne. After high school I went to Rusden State College and got my Bachelor of Education in Dance and English. And kept dancing. Over 30 years ago I started my own Studio – Impetus – and am so proud to see it still going strong as now one of Geelong’s longest standing studios. Throughout my life I have taught half of Geelong – and I remember every single face. I am so lucky to be able to do what I love every single day! |
STACEY | Dance Teacher Senior School
I've been dancing for the last 29yrs and loved every minute of it! I started out training in Jazz, Tap and Classical and went on to study a Bachelor of Contemporary Arts Dance, majoring in contemporary dance! For 10 years I had my own contemporary dance company that produced original works. I started dancing and teaching with Impetus when I was 18! Over my time I've taught many different classes but I'm absolutely loving teaching Senior Contemporary this year! My life just wouldn't be the same without Impetus- Its like my family! |
XAVIER | Dance Teacher Senior School
I started dancing when I was just 6 years old. I love dance, because it is the only exercise that is fun and the only art form that uses your whole heart, body AND mind. I trained at Jason Coleman's Ministry of Dance and have been in lots of performances including West Side Story, Headcase and Saturday Night Fever. I love Impetus, because the focus is always on FUN and the LOVE of dance. |
PURDEY | Contemporary (Junior, Inters, Seniors)
According to my parents, I was dancing long before I was walking and I cannot remember a time where I didn’t absolutely love to dance. I started with calisthenics at the age of 5 and this is where my LOVE for flexibility and acrobatics began. I grew up competing both in team and solo competitions and have done a handful of local amateur and a semi-pro musicals, not to mention the crazy fun Impetus Shows. I also have my own photography business- Purdey Lee Photography. |
IAN | Glee
I have been involved with Impetus for over 20 years, teaching and assisting in numerous classes. I am a performer both in amateur and professional, a singer, a writer and teacher of drama and dance at Kardinia International College. I am also the proud co-founder of Comic Genius Productions whose works have had regular runs in the Melbourne International Comedy Festival since 2014. |
ADAMO | Go!Dance
Adamo aka Mr. Go!Dance is bringing the G back in Groove baby. It’s time to loosen the hips, put down the chips & move to the beat. Adamo has been in the entertainment industry (along with beauty! Tick!) since he could walk. With a special talent for bringing out the rhythm even in people with two left feet So if you’re looking for that new passion and hobby look no further Mr. Go! Is here ready to shake, rattle and roll. Adamo has performed in many internationally acclaimed shows including 'The Australian Kylie Show' from 2006-2018 as a back up dancer, 'Aussie Heat Australian Tour' in 2017 as MC, "The Full Monty' in 2012 as Ethan and 'Joseph' and 'Guys and Dolls' in earlier years. |
PENNI | Assistant to Director and Tiny and Mini Groove
I have had more than 20 years of dance teaching experience with Impetus and have been involved with the company for over 30 years. Outside of Impetus I have worked as a choreographer, hairdresser and makeup artist for numerous theatre companies in Geelong . I love teaching at Impetus because it makes me happy to see the smiles on my students faces each week. I want children to enjoy dance just as much as I do. Impetus is a special place for me: it fosters imagination and dance in children of all ages while allowing me to stay in contact with my inner child. |
BREE | DanceAbility
I have been dancing with Impetus for as long as I can remember and am known to have a boogie anytime, anywhere. I hold a degree in Behavioural Science and work as a Disability Support Worker when I am not grooving with my Dance Stars. Impetus is my second home. It is a place to be silly, to dance (of course), to work hard and to forget the outside world for a few moments. STEFANI | Hip Hop
I have trained in various styles of dance during my two years of full-time training at Jason Coleman’s Ministry of Dance, where I attained full certificates in both Dance and Dance Teaching Management. I have always had a passion for performing and have had the opportunity to perform both professionally and voluntarily amongst the Melbourne and Geelong dance community. I am excited to get into the studio and share my dance knowledge with the students of Impetus. |
EBONY | DanceAbility
I’m thrilled to be co teaching the DanceAbility class!
I’m a strong believer that anyone can dance and everyone SHOULD dance! This makes me extra excited to be having a dance with the wonderful DanceAbility group. In the studio, you’ll see me working hard and having a laugh. I’m a bit goofy but I like hard work! I’m always there to lend a helping hand with a big smile. Away from dance, I work as a support worker in the disability industry. I’ve had lots of experience in different health care sectors but found my passion in working as an advocate and striving for inclusion within the community. I’m ecstatic to be a part of this incredible class and am absolutely loving being a part of the fabulous Impetus crew and to be part of the great energy in the studio every week! |
Michaela | Jazz ('Groove') & Music Theatre
I was a late bloomer when it came to discovering my passion Dance. It wasn’t until I was 12 and started dancing at Impetus Dance Company that I came to love and appreciate dancing. My time at Impetus taught me that dancing was fun and a form of storytelling and expression that I simply couldn’t get enough of! I’ve carried that passion with me ever since. In 2012, I moved to Melbourne and studied a Bachelor of Music Theatre at the Victorian College of the Arts. After graduating I joined the Australian and International Company of Les Misérables and went on to tour with the show as the Assistant Dance Captain for just over 2 years. Most recently I was the Assistant Dance Captain on the Australian and International tour of School of Rock the Musical. I have travelled and performed in over 7 Countries around the world and love that no matter where you go, Dancing and Music is a language that everyone speaks and understands! Impetus has always held a huge place in my heart and I’m so excited to come HOME, back to where my journey started, and dance with you all. |
TARA | Senior Class Assistant
I have loved dance for as long as I can remember, starting classes at age 5. My training has consisted of Contemporary, Jazz, Commercial, Lyrical/Neo-Classical, Ballet, Hip Hop, Musical Theatre and Tap. During my high school years I was also on a competition troupe, in which I competed throughout Victoria. I have been at Impetus for the past 5 years, and love getting to learn from/work with the greatest teaching crew! Being a teacher and assistant teacher at Impetus has also driven me to study a Bachelor of Education (Prep-Yr10). I’m so lucky to be part of the Impetus dance family and work with our incredible students! |

TAYGAN | Studio Fairy
I first walked through the studio doors of Impetus in 2016 when I made a last minute decision to try an Adult beginners Dance class (Go!Dance). I knew straight away that Impetus was where I belong and can just be me. I’m blessed to be able to call Impetus my home and my family, my safe and happy place.
When I am not dancing or sharing my passion for dance with our students, I am a full time student at Deakin University in Geelong, studying a double degree in Criminology and Psychology. I am also a fully qualified Childcare Educator and have worked in the industry for over 6 years.
I love reaching out and helping others to achieve their goals. You will always see me with a smile on my face.
