Hello Dance Parents,

It was so great to see you all in the studio again last week!

Anzac Day

There will be no classes on Anzac Day.

Tuition

Tuition has been posted on all accounts. Please log into the Parent Portal and ensure fees have been posted correctly on your child's or your account - if you notice any mistakes, please get in touch through responding to this email and we will fix it up straight away!

If you are intending to pay in full, please ensure fees are paid by the end of the week (27 April) to avoid late fees.

If you are signed up for Autopay, your payment dates will be 23 April, 21 May & 18 June.

When you dance, your purpose is not to get to a certain place on the floor. It’s to enjoy each step along the way.

Exciting news - we have a few spots left in our Adult Beginner classes. This class booked out within days last term, so we have secured our amazing teacher Adam for a second class. If you have thought about maybe trialling a dance class for yourself - NOW is your time! We invite our parents to come along for a FREE trial class to the funnest workout you'll ever do.

Monday night, 6-7pm and 7-8pm. No experience necessary. Limited spots available, so please respond to this email and secure your spot now.

I PROMISE you, you will not regret coming along. We have SO. MUCH. FUN!!!

Hello Dance Parents,

Firstly, I have received a few emails today to clarify - yes, we are back in the studio today!

Welcome to a jam packed term 2. We cannot wait to get back into the studio and get dancing again!!!

Cabaret Term

Term 2 is Cabaret Term (hooray!!!) and we are so excited to get up on stage to show everyone what we have learned. It can be a daunting experience and if this is your first term with us you will be amazing by the confidence boost that you will notice in your child afterwards. It's MAGIC!!!

If you haven't yet, please enter the dates for our Mid Year Cabaret into your family Calendar NOW. As per usual we will run two shows, one Junior Show and one Senior show.

Junior Show | Tweens, Inter Hip Hop, Juniors, Kids, Kindy & Minis
Senior Show | iDance, Inters (not Hip Hop), iGen, Seniors & Danceability
Where? Geelong West Town Hall
When? Saturday, 23 June

Our Cabaret shows will be two of the funnest events of the Geelong Dance year! Come along and cheer on your dancers, BYO food and have a good laugh! Tickets will go on sale during the term and we'll let you know as soon as they are available. Proud grandparents, Uncles & Aunties and of course friends are welcome too.

Autopay

If you are signed up for Autopay, your payment dates will be 23 April, 21 May & 18 June

Time for Photos

We love photos - they are such a beautiful memory for dancers and parents alike. From 21st May until 30 May, we will be busy in the studio holding individual and class shoots. We will get dressed up in our costumes for the Cabaret and it will be amazing! So. Much. FUN!!!

Trial a new class

In our first two weeks of term 2, we invite all our students to trial another Impetus class for free! It is a great way to see what other styles are on offer at Impetus and to meet other members of our Impetus Dance Family.

Available trials:
Minis (Preschool) | Wednesday 10.15 -11am
Inter Hip Hop (Yr 4-8) | Wednesday 5-6pm
iDance (Yr 6&7) | Monday 4-5pm
Musical Theatre ( Yr 6-9) | Thursday 4-5pm *very limited spots*
iGen (Yr 10-12) | Monday 5-6pm
Go!Dance (Adult Beginner) | Monday 6-7pm and 7-8pm

In case you didn't know, we offer a generous 15% discount on BOTH classes if you are enrolled in two classes or 20% for three classes.

Please note: Every student must be registered for a trial via responding to this email. Other trials might be available as students move between classes at the beginning of term. Please get in touch if you have another class in mind that you would like to trial.

Hello Dancers and Parents,

Thank you for a wonderful, busy, positive, sparkly and successful first term.

All our dancers have come so far in class and most importantly I am so so proud of the beautiful encouraging and inclusive atmosphere in the studio. We are so passionate about creating a space where you all want to spend your time and I really truly feel we are family. Thank you!

IMPETUS TANKS ARE BACK

The wait is over - we have just received a huge delivery of more Impetus Tanks! We know lots of you have been waiting for them, so now is your chance to snap one up.

A few mums have bought our tanks, bows and water bottles as little additional non sugary treats from the Easter Bunny - what a great idea! We have fully stocked our little shop in the studio, so feel free to come and have a browse.

HOLIDAY CLASSES

You have asked again and again...and finally it is happening! We are going to run holiday classes this year!!!

The Timetable will be available shortly on our website and we will send through an email as well. Please note we will be running a few classes only as we are gauging demand, so if you or your dancer would love a holiday class, but you cannot find the one you are after, please get in touch. We rely on your feedback and will incorporate it into next term's planning!

BIKETARD ORDERS

Biketard orders are OPEN! Hop on over to our website now and check them out. Please note, all items are made especially for us, so orders will close at the end of the week.

IMPORTANT DATES

Did you know...
that there is a Calendar in our Parent Portal? It shows up in the bottom right corner when you log in. I have been busy entering all important dates for the year in there, so it is worth having a look through and popping them on your calendar at home.

I know it sounds crazy, but our mid year Cabaret and even our End of Year Show at GPAC will be here before we know it. In order for our students to get the full experience and gain maximum value from being part of a production, it is so so important that they attend rehearsals and - while we try to do most of the work during class- we have to include a few extra rehearsals before a big performance.

Hello Dancers and Parents,

We are approaching the end of term one and it has been such a fantastic start to the year. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to each and everyone of you. You all bring your energy and biggest smiles to class and give it your best every single week!

Parents, you must be so proud of your dancers - they are so wonderful, positive and talented!

PARENT VIEWINGS

We are so so proud of what your dancers have achieved in the last few weeks - it really is amazing to see how much our bodies can learn in such a short time frame. We are excited to invite parents or other caregivers to view our progress in the last week of term (week starting 26th March). We will invite you into class for the last 15-20 mins, so please come early for pickup if you wish to see what we have been up to in the last 6 weeks.

(Please note, Kindy parents have received a separate email for a slightly different viewing schedule)

BIKETARD ORDERS

Have you seen our amazing biketards yet?!? We are so so thrilled to have sourced some amazing dance wear this season which will be branded with the Impetus Logo. Hooray!!! Orders will open soon through our website.

We will have the full size range in the studio for the next two weeks, so you can try on to be sure. Please note the straps will not be attached in production, so that you can ensure the biketard fits you perfectly (because there is nothing more annoying that slipping shoulder straps). You'll be able to easily attach it at the perfect length with a couple of stitches.

AUTOPAY

Quick heads up - if you are signed up to our Autopay option, your third and final payment will come out on Monday 26th March.

'AMERICAN IDIOT' CLASS

I am so thrilled to announce that we have the amazing Kyla Bartholemeusz, Dance Captain from American Idiot, joining us for a special one off class this Sunday. Come along and learn a dance from this rocking show which is currently playing at GPAC - we cannot wait! This class is going to be DA BOMB.

We are going to cover the costs for this class as a special treat for our dancers, but spots are very limited, so you must register on the portal. Everyone year 10 (iGen) and up can participate, just follow below link to our parent portal and search for American Idiot in the classes to register now.

Midterm Update

Hello Dancers and Parents,

Wow, we are already half way through term 1! I am truly blown away by what our classes are getting up to after just a few weeks. The energy in every class is electric and you have come so far already! I am secretly getting a little bit excited for our mid year show already.

UNIFORMS

As you are aware, we do not enforce a strict uniform at Impetus. We do however have a few important rules when it comes to class attire and would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone of these.

1 Please wear appropriate dance wear such as bike shorts, leggings or leotards. Gaping shorts, skirts without shorts underneath and jumpsuits are not suitable.

2 No school uniforms. We pride ourselves on our inclusive environment at Impetus and encourage friendships across school, so please don't wear your uniform in class.

3 Please ensure long hair is tied back neatly.

4 We get hot in class, so please don't wear too many layers or anything too thick to avoid overheating.

If you love our Impetus tops - please note there are more on the way. Please bear with us: it won't be long and they'll be available in the studios soon again. We will also have order forms for our amazing biketards and they should be ready for term 2!

TOILET BREAKS

If you have a younger dancer - please encourage them to go to the bathroom before class. It is very disruptive to the teaching environment and our dancers don't want to miss a second of class.

ALLERGIES

We have some students with severe allergies in our classes this year, so please remember that Impetus is a strictly nut free zone. Please remind your dancer to wash their hands thoroughly before coming to class if they have touched or eaten any nuts. Thank you!

Hello Dancers and Parents,

Firstly - let me say: THANK YOU to every single of one you for being part of our dance family this year. The atmosphere in the studio is electric and you can feel the energy in every single class. Thank you for choosing to come in with a spring in your step and give it all you got.

I would also like to extend a huge thank you to our amazing teachers who are so talented, so committed to the beauty of dance and LOVE teaching. It is such a joy to work with you!

FULLY BOOKED

Lots of our classes are now fully booked or filling up quickly, so if you haven't enrolled yet - yes, we know some of you have been here every week and are not yet on the portal - please get in now, before someone else snaps up your spot.

Also, if you are planning to bring a friend along - HOORAY - please email us beforehand, so we can make sure there is room in your class. We have lots of people booked in for trials and we would hate to turn away an excited potential dancer, but we have to be fair to everyone and cannot overfill our studio.

Do you follow us on facebook? We share a lot on our fb page - including some amazing projects that our teachers are involved in and of course pics of our little and older dancers. If you want to know more about who we are at Impetus, please come and say hello.

INTERS VIEWINGS

We might have gotten a little carried away last week - oops - so parent viewing for Inters' parents will happen this week. If you are picking up your dancer from their Inters class, you are invited to come along for an informal viewing for the last 15 minutes of class to see what we have been up to.

We are so excited to show you some amazing Impetus tops and biketards that have just arrived. We'll display them in the studio for you to have a look at next time you come along for you classes - we love them and can't wait to hear what you think!

TUITION UPDATE

Please note the second Autopay date is coming up. If you have signed up to our easy monthly payment system, your card will be charged for half of the outstanding balance on your account on Monday, 26 February.

If you are intending to pay in full and haven't done so - please do so this week to avoid late fees which will be applied on Friday afternoon on all outstanding accounts. Any questions or issues with payments, please get in touch with us asap.

Attention Tween Groove and Junior Contemporary: Time Change

Hello Dancers and Parents,

Wow, what a week! So many new faces, so many familiar faces, lots of sore muscles...I have loved every second of it.

It is so good to see all of your happy faces back in the studio!

TIME CHANGES

Junior Contemporary and Tween Groove

As already discussed in the studios with many of you during the week, we have had to arrange a time swap for our Junior Contemporary Dancers and Tween Groovers. We try as hard as we can to confirm all details prior to start of term, but due to class numbers we have had to swap these two around.

Monday afternoons:
Junior Contemporary will now be in the Hall at 4-5pm
iDance is in the Studio at 4-5pm (no time change)
Tween Groove will be in the studio from 5-6pm

Mini Groovers
To allow for a more relaxed switch between Tiny and Mini Groovers, we will move the Mini Groover start time from 10am to 10.15am. Our class will now finish at 11am.

SHARE THE LOVE

With Valentines Day coming up, we will focus on sharing the love (of dance and gratitude) in class through a variety of little projects all through February.

PARENT VIEWINGS

During next week we invite parents to come in for an informal class viewing for the last 15 minutes of class. This is a great opportunity -especially for new dance families to get a feel for what we get up to in class. You'll be amazed to see what your dancer has learnt in just two weeks.

CLASSES ARE FILLING UP

Please note, some of our classes are now at full capacity. To be fair to all our students we cannot allow more students in. So if you or your friends are coming along for a trial - please make sure you check with us beforehand!

We will enrol you for a free trial and that way your teacher knows you are coming too! Please just fill in the contact form on our website and we will be in touch asap.

TERMS FEES DUE

Thank you to all of you who have already paid in full or signed up to our easy Autopay System.

If you signed up after the first day of term and have missed the first Autopay Run, please note that your card will be charged for a catchup payment on Monday 12 Feb. The next two Autopay dates are 26 Feb and 26 March. Please ensure that sufficient funds are available in your account by Monday if you have not been charged yet. Thank you.

If you are planning to pay in full, please do so by Friday 16 Feb to avoid late fees. Thank you.

Go!Dance | ADULT BEGINNER

Our Adult Beginner class on Monday nights sold out in record time, so we are very excited to announce a second class at 7.30pm. Spots are filling very fast - and to be fair to everyone, it is a first come/first save situation. If you want to join us in these super fun Adult classes, please get your term pass here now!

Hello Dancers and Parents,

Hooray, the wait is almost over: Next week we will see you all back in the studio - and we are so excited!!!

NEW STUDENTS

We would like to take this opportunity to once more extend a very warm welcome to our new students and families. We are sure you will find our Impetus dancers, parents and staff to be a very friendly and helpful lot. If you are a new student, please check in at the desk when you arrive and when you leave your class this week, so that we can make sure you are well looked after and know where to go.

And to our returning students - it is so wonderful to see you come back. We cannot wait to dance with you this year!

ENROLMENTS

Please make sure you have enrolled in your classes before you turn up to your class. Some classes are fully booked this year and we would hate to have to turn you away.

FRIENDS

Your friends are our friends and we LOVE when you invite them to come along for a dance. Please make sure you get their parents to email us first though. We need to make sure there is enough room in the class and also need their parents' contact details on file to comply with legal obligations. Thanks for understanding!

NUT FREE ZONE - reminder

Please note, due to some students with serious allergies, we are a strictly nut free zone at the Impetus Studios.

PARKING

We are very lucky that there is plenty of free parking available near our studios. Just a friendly reminder to please not park in the staff parking spots. We have some teachers who are coming from other classes or rehearsals themselves and we want them to spend as much time as possible with our students.

iDance Time change | Autopay tonight | Assistant Teacher Program

Hello Dancers and Parents,

We hope you all managed to stay cool throughout this week of super summer here in Victoria!

Are you getting excited for next week? Classes go back on Monday, 5 February and we are counting down!

TUITION

Tuition payments are now available on the parent portal. Everyone who signed up to our convenient new Autopay system: the first portion of your term fee will be charged tonight.

29 January (TODAY)- 1 third of tuition payments
26 Feb - 2nd payment
26 March - 3rd payment.

(Example: if your tuition is $180 per term, your card will be charged $60 on 29 January, $60 on 26 Feb and $60 on 26 March)

iDance | TIME CHANGE

Calling all year 6 and 7 students: A little birdie told us...that the Thursday iDance times didn't suit a lot of you, so we have listened and changed time and date for you!

New iDance times:
Monday nights, 4-5pm with Sherree.

I can't wait to see your kicks, leaps, turns, jumps, head flicks and most importantly - biggest smiles!!! We work on technique, flexibility, skills and most importantly developing the joy of dance and performance in our gorgeous students. Come and join the fun!

ASSISTANT TEACHER TRAINING

Thank you for the great applications for our assistant teacher training that we have received so far. You are wonderful and we cannot wait to work with you!

Our training program is great for experience and training in teaching, working within a team, learning responsibility and leadership...and well, anyone planning on entering the workforce in the future. We are able to provide references to potential employers for all successful assistant teachers.

Applications for our Assistant Teacher Program close this Wednesday, 31 Jan, so if you haven't gotten your application form in yet, please do so asap. You can find the form on the parent portal.

Open Day | Tuition Payments | Assistant Teacher Program

We are so excited and we can't hide it... we have been in the studio all week getting set up and ready for Open Day and it is looking wonderful.

The countdown until classes start again on 5 Feb is on: only 12 more sleeps til term goes back!

Tuition Payments
Term 1 Tuitions are now posted on your accounts. If you have not signed up to Autopay and want to pay in full, please arrange payment. All accounts which are set to Autopay will be charged automatically by our system on the following amounts

29 January - 1 third of tuition payments
26 Feb - 2nd payment
26 March - 3rd payment.

ASSISTANT TEACHER TRAINING

Our assistant teacher training is designed to nurture a student’s desire to teach. We will help students to identify the different aspects involved in being a Dance Educator. Students who are interested in learning the art of teaching dance are encouraged to apply as well as students who are willing or interested in taking on more responsibility in a guided environment.

We have run this program for years and we are thrilled to expand on it this year and include a workbook and some more formal education as extra value in this free program for our students. We truly believe in the importance of investing in the future of our students and are passionate about passing on some of our most valued skills to the next generation of educators.
